Differentials
The 'SVS' Torque biasing front differentials for Nissan Skyline GTR and R35 GTR.
** DEALER DISCOUNTS AVAILABLE ON APPLICATION**
Our differential is a British made torque biasing design, manufactured by 3J-Driveline and marketed under their 'UL-Trac' branding in their merger with the Longford Gear Co. 3J had previously created this differential for one of our competitors who then switched brands. We saw the opportunity to continue our 33 year history in torque biasing differential sales and development.
We at Special Vehicle Services Limited were pioneers in the torque biasing differential to suit the Nissan Skyline GTR 32-33 and 34 chassis'. We started sales of these in 2003 having discovered that a clutch plate or ratchet style differential mounted in the front axle produced a very adverse street driving experience (slow speed manouvres and parking became a literal nightmare). The torque biasing design, when installed, still feels like the stock 'open' unit. Improvements are only noticed when comparing track times and especially in wet conditions.
Our first GTR front torque biasing diff customer was an Australian endurance racing team competing in 1000km events at Bathurst and Tasmania. They were breaking a stock front GTR diff on every outing. With our diff not only did they fail to break them but completed the series as overall winners. Thats what launched us into GTR torque biasing differential supply.
At the time we had been helping the well known Japanese tuning giant Trust Co. Ltd (GReddy) with the development of 6-speed gear kits for the GTR - since 1992 and later developed a full sequential replacement unit, using our own car as a template. Our supplier regrettably changed the design of that transmission but the replacement no longer fitted the car without cutting the floorpan, not something we supported in the business of supplying direct fit products. This event signified the beginning of the end of our relationship with them and from 2020 onwards we had been looking for a viable alternative. 3J driveline were the source. Our SVS differentials had previously been delivered as ''LM'' units for the R35 GTR via Litchfield Motors and ''JHH racing'' units in Australia. With our 3J driveline supply we decided finally to brand them as our own. Something clearly we should have done back in 2003.
Following our original sales of GTR front differentials to some Australian endurance racing teams back in 2003, we subsequently partnered with Ausjap Auto Consultants in Australia for sales 'down under'. We've worked together with them now for 22 years and counting. They carry our differentials in stock and can be found here ;

As a final note to reassure all the 'disinformation' out there these days, please take confidence in our British made product and experience in the torque biasing differential market. Together with our founder and 3J Driveline we bring over 60 years combined differential manufacture and supply experience to the market. We hope to announce a rear torque biasing unit for the 32/33/34 models in the forthcoming months. No plans though for the rear of an R35, we saw no improvement when we made one previously for it.
